IMPORTANCE OF REGULAR SCREENING
Regular screening for PAH in patients with CHD is recommended1-3
Postoperative PAH screening should include clinical assessment, echocardiogram, and electrocardiogram at a follow-up visit 3 to 6 months after the correction and throughout long-term follow-up3
Screening for PAH should be done annually in postoperative patients after correction with increased baseline PVR or a combination of other predisposing factors3
PAH should be evaluated in all patients with CHD at both baseline and follow-up visits2
Each echocardiogram assessment should include screenings for PAH with a focus on the right side of the heart2,4
Patients with signs of PAH require follow-up testing, including referral to a PAH specialist for further screening and diagnosis with RHC4
